Biography
Konstantin Vikhanov 1947 - 2022 (?)
Graphic artist and painter. Member of the Union of Artists of Russia.
Born in Leningrad on August 1, 1947 in a family of creative intelligentsia. Konstantin began drawing in 1957 at the Fine Arts Studio, continued his studies at Art School No. 190 in Leningrad, and at the same time attended courses in “Drawing Nude Nature” at the Academy of Arts and the Mukhinsky School. In 1972 he received a higher art education, graduating from the Moscow Printing Institute with a degree in graphic artist and painter. At the end of the 70s, the major Italian collector Antonio Farelli became interested in the work of Konstantin Vikhanov, then still known only to a small public.
Interest grew into promoting the artist to the European market, and to the regret of Konstantin Vikhanov himself, the European market absorbed a large period of the author’s creativity. At first, the paintings were bought immediately from the artist’s studio and sent to Italy, and later Konstantin Vikhanov himself moved to a friendly country. For almost 20 years, Konstantin Vikhanov has been engaged in graphic design; from 1989 to the present, he has been working in oil painting and watercolor techniques. Konstantin Vikhanov spent more than ten years in Europe - Milan, Paris, Rome, Dresden - the fruits of the artist’s work of that period will remain unknown to the Russian viewer. In 1996, Konstantin returned to Russia. He is a participant in many exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Currently, Konstantin Vikhanov lives in St. Petersburg, is engaged in painting, graphics, and is preparing a book about the influence of European painting on the artists of modern Russia. The artist's works are in private collections in Russia, France, Germany, USA, Poland, Japan, and Australia.
