BIRDS OF PARADISE AND THE QUEEN OF THE NIGHT
Naive portraits and
and other exhilarating things
After the March 2023 exhibition, new images immediately began to emerge.
The Vedic art group at the Civic School gave me ideas and momentum. Sometimes I have used the images created there as sketches when painting with acrylics at home.
The pictures are created when the light increases in the spring-winter. The painting season starts at the end of February and continues into September. I started painting in the spring of 2021 starting in February. I sometimes pick up a marker or a brush and draw or paint whatever happens to come up. I often make larger versions of them on canvas.
The Queen of the Night was the result of quite a process, through many transformations. It originally had the Spirit of the Forest, but the work took me in another direction, into another reality, rather an underwater world, and I had no choice but to follow.
Sometimes I feel that the work is doing me and not me doing the work, as far as the paintings are concerned.
Besides painting, I write poetry, which is also quite visual. Painting and writing
alternate.
Naïve portraits capture the imagination. The image from which I start is created in a few moments.
seconds, but the final painting is a process of its own, sometimes taking a few hours, sometimes two or three days. It also happens that a work has been in progress for a few months.Biography
