Artist’s Statement

I am Leena Raussi, an artist from Kouvola!
My career as an artist has lasted 30 years. For the first 20 years I painted watercolours until I switched to acrylics.
Painting is on my mind every day - actually all the time. When I paint, when I photograph; they support each other. I enjoy nature, so the subjects and ideas come from there.
I'm quick in my movements and I don't have a precise plan - I don't necessarily know what I'm going to paint the next day.
Sometimes I wonder, why do I always paint? It's some inner restlessness thatneeds to get out onto the canvas. It's a way of living and breathing, a passion, a fire for life.
It's my resource in the darkest moments of life, something that calms me and keeps me going.
I enjoy painting - I become happy.
