"ARCANUS". Joint exhibition with Marja Aronen.
We got to know each other while studying goldsmithing in Lahti. We get along very well and have a lot of common interests. Nature is especially close to both of our hearts.
The idea of a joint exhibition arose from our discussions at school, and now after graduation, the time is right.
Even though we use different techniques in our art, our works fit together harmoniously, both in terms of subject and color scheme. Both of our works also reflect our interest in jewelry and making them, we both often use gold and silver in our work.
The name of the exhibition is Arcanus, which means secret. The inspiration for the works in the exhibition was the idea of the forest's own secrets and the mysterious things that happen in the forest when there are no people present to witness them.
Whatever the forest hides inside. In its mystery, nature and the forest are a rich and eternal source of inspiration. There are endless things to describe about its trees and animals.

In Paulina's hand-printed woodcuts, the eternal source of inspiration is not only nature, but also Finnish mythology and folk beliefs. Traditional handicrafts and folk poetry also bring ideas and influence the work.
Trees are also present in Pauliina's works because of their material. When carving on a wooden board, the wood's texture, liveliness and its own nature must be taken into account, and they bring their own tone to the works.
Marja lives and works in Hattula. His source of inspiration is nature experiences. Although Marja's works are often representational, in her art she wants to illustrate the emotional states, thoughts and the secret world she experiences and feels when moving in nature.
